A stellar field lines up this week in Abu Dhabi. Mickelson, Stenson and McIlroy feature here and the course, at 7600 yards, clearly favours the longer hitters. Jamie Donaldson won last year and course specialists Kaymer and Casey are in attendance. This one looks pretty wide open and always consider the usual Middle Eastern experts.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Thorbjorn Olesen | 2pt each way 70-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T56 Back Thorbjorn Olesen Again |
We fully expect Olesen to win again this year. He’ll be very keen to bounce back after a disappointing 2013 which was interrupted by injury and an attempt to play both tours. Fit, fresh and fully focussed on Europe he’s going to be mega-keen to get off to a fast start on a course that clearly suits. He’s had 8th and T2 in his two Abu Dhabi starts and we wouldn’t bet against him adding to that good run this week. NOTE: Stan James are offering ¼ odds top SIX and some very good prices too! | |||
Rafael Cabrera-Bello | 1pt each way 100-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Returned 26pts for T4 place finish!
Back Rafael Cabrera-Bello Again |
Rafa is a really solid all round player who goes especially well in warm, dry conditions. He’s made all his five cuts in Abu Dhabi with a T6 the highlight and has a solid record in the Middle East. He hits plenty of greens and gives it a decent clip off the tee. The course suits and we feel this price offers excellent each way value. | |||
Paul Casey | 2pt each way 45-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T65 Back Paul Casey Again |
Paul is looking like getting back to his best form. The tee to green game is spot on and the putting is steadily improving. A long awaited win in Ireland in 2013 showed that he’s not far off. Add in the fact that he has Abu Dhabi wins in 2007 and 2009 and has made each cut since when out of form. He’s fully fit for the first time in a long time and must be backed at this price. |
