Another early season restricted field event. These tournaments are not a happy hunting ground for the value conscious punter with just 30 odd players!

Durban Country Club is a tight, tree lined course with landing areas as little as 12m. Conditions should suit the shorter, more accurate players as the course only measures 6700 yards and is a par 72 with four par fives. Louis Oosthuizen is the defending champion and it’s worth noting that Durban CC was first used in 2013. Charl Schwartzel is the clear favourite with Oost as high as 16-1.

Kiradech shot to prominence with some good displays toward the end of 2013 together with his Malaysian Open win. He comes into this week with a degree of momentum and is fiercely ambitious to make it onto the PGA Tour. No question, he’s a quality player who will be looking to make a big impact in 2014 and we expect him to win again. He’s got a solid all round game and is a great putter on his day. We are in no doubt that he can contend in a restricted field this week.

We’re big fans of Tommy Fleetwood here at Bettingtips4golf and see no reason why his highly encouraging form of 2013 cannot continue. He posted his first win and played solidly after that to establish himself on the European Tour. He posted some decent results in South Africa and Asia and we think Durban CC will suit his solid ball striking. If Tommy can hit the ground running with his putter then he could be a major factor this week.

Padraig has struggled to recapture his form of 2008 when he won two major championships. However, he has reserved some of his better performances for events away from Europe. In such a restricted field his 4th place last year catches the eye, especially as 55-1 is available. On his day Harrington can still compete and he’s going to be keen to emerge from the doldrums in 2014, starting here.
