This week’s PGA Tour stop is TPC Summerlin, just outside Las Vegas. The course is a typical desert/resort layout with wide fairways and large, flat, receptive greens. Low scoring is the order of the day so good iron players and putters tend to gravitate to the top of the leaderboard. Normally at least -20 is needed to contend here on this 7243 yard par 71 course. Ryan Moore is the defending champion.

---|---|---|---|
Martin Laird | 2pt each way 60-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: MC Back Martin Laird Again |
We think Martin has a great chance this week. He’s already posted a win in 2013 and has managed a win and a runner-up spot at Summerlin in the last four years. He’s clearly at home on the course and there is no question that if the putter is warm he can get the birdies required to get in serious contention. | |||
Robert Garrigus | 2pt each way 40-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T23 Back Robert Garrigus Again |
Garrigus will be looking to put a disappointing 2013 behind him and there are signs that things are starting to click. He’s made his last seven cuts here, and had T16 and T22 in his last two Summerlin outings. Clearly, if the putter behaves he’s going to contend this week on a course that’s right up his street. What really marks him out is his T12 last week at CordeValle and most importantly he was 7th in strokes gained putting. If he repeats that this week he’ll be right up there. | |||
Vijay Singh | 1pt each way 66-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T23 Back Vijay Singh Again |
We thought the veteran Fijian might have been marked a bit lower by the bookmakers this week. He’s not played at Summerlin much over the years but clearly has the tee to green game to set up plenty of birdie opportunities. Factor in an eye catching solo 2nd last week and we feel he’s got the game to contend again. |
