The European Tour moves to Australia this week for the Perth International at Lake Karrinyik GC. It’s a 7143 yard par 72. There’s a bit of room off the tee but the fairways are tree lined and hitting the relatively small greens is going to be crucial this week. It’s certainly a solid ball-striker’s venue. Bo Van Pelt won last season with -16. Dustin Johnson is the stand-out entrant this year and is the early favourite.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Chris Doak | 2pt each way 80-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T36 Back Chris Doak Again |
Chris is developing nicely this season and has contended a few times. He’s a prolific winner on minor tours and it seems he’s capable of grabbing a title on a bigger stage. He’s had T23-T20-T8 in his last three outings and seems as though he could go better this week. He’s pretty much secured his card with these performances. We think a small punt might reap a reward come Sunday. | |||
Soren Kjeldsen | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T43 Back Soren Kjeldsen Again |
Soren’s been in decent form over the last month or two with a few good finishes (3rd and 8th in September). He’s a decent putter and finds a lot of greens (70% +) and these characteristics are crucial to success here. The quality of the field is not that high and Kjeldsen is exactly the sort of player who can gravitate to the top of the leaderboard. | |||
David Drysdale | 1.5pt each way 100-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T56 Back David Drysdale Again |
David is exactly the sort of neat and tidy player who prospers on courses like Lake Karrynyik. He’s had a solid season with a number of good finishes. As usual, his best work has tended to be in the non-European events. He’ll be looking to build on the progress made this season and we can easily see him sneaking into the top half dozen come Sunday. |
