Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Tips

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship - Old Course St. Andrews, Carnoustie & Kingsbarns,.,Scotland

26 September 2013 - 29 September 2013

Tip date: 23 September 2013

With the 2013 PGA Tour season at an end there’s only one tournament to study this week. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is played over three courses in the opening rounds (St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie) with the final round at The Old Course at St. Andrews. Carnoustie is traditionally the most testing venue and -20 is usually needed to get the job done. If the wind gets up it can provide a severe test. This tournament usually attracts a decent field and Branden Grace triumphed in 2012.

Name Odds Bookmaker
Tommy Fleetwood 2pt each way 55-1 Stan James TOP SIX Returned 29.5pts for 5 place finish!

Back Tommy Fleetwood Again
Tommy hit the headlines with a breakthrough victory at Gleneagles a few weeks ago. He’s managed a T30 and T9 since which is not bad at all. Factor in the T5 he posted in 2011 at the Alfred Dunhill and he looks like a guy who could post another high finish at good odds.
Brett Rumford 2pt each way 66-1 BetVictor TOP SIX Finishing position: MC

Back Brett Rumford Again
Brett Rumford is having a great season having posted back-to-back wins. He looks to be getting back to his best form now with T6-T8-T15 in his last three starts. He’s managed 15-19-22 among his last five Alfred Dunhill starts – and he’s a better player now than he was then. The wide open spaces and large greens at St. Andrews and Kingsbarns should suit his magical short game. If it’s not blowing a gale this week then Rumford has the attributes to go very close indeed.
Thorbjorn Olesen 2pt each way 55-1 Stan James TOP SIX Finishing position: MC

Back Thorbjorn Olesen Again
After a solid start to the season Thorbjorn Olesen has lost his way a bit. It’s the classic case of trying to play America and Europe at the same time. He’s back on the European Tour and will be looking for a good end to the season. He’s shown signs of a return to form (9th at Gleneagles) and he’s well suited to the wide fairways and large greens this week. In fact his T2 last year could easily have been a win. We think a small each way interest could bear fruit come Sunday afternoon.

All quoted odds correct as of 15:00 on 23/09/2013. These are obviously subject to fluctuation.
