This week we’re high up in the Alps for the Omega European Masters from Crans-Sur-Sierre. It’s a particularly scenic venue which doubles as a ski resort in the winter months. It’s another relatively weak filed with the big names still on Fedex Cup duty. The course is a short 6800 yard par 71 which plays shorter still at this altitude. It’s a tight, tree lined affair with very small upturned greens which are quite tricky to hit in regulation. GIR is definitely important here as length off the tee is of no advantage.
| Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brett Rumford | 2pt each way 33-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T15 Back Brett Rumford Again |
| Readers will note that we had a small each way winner on the 37 year old Aussie a couple of weeks ago at Glenegales. He nearly repeated the trick with a T8 at Celtic Manor. Factor in his Crans form where he’s made nine consecutive cuts and won in 2007. The small greens and punishing run offs are made for his magical short game. We can see Rumford going very close indeed this week. | |||
| Jaco Van Zyl | 1pt each way 80-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T22 Back Jaco Van Zyl Again |
| We like the look of Jaco this week. He’s had a promising two trips to Crans-Sur-Sierre and we see no reason why he cannot have another good week on a course he likes against a fairly uninspiring field. His two visits have yielded T3 and T14. He’s not done a lot recently but this was the case in his previous two finishes here. We think he’s well worth an each way nibble at a good price. | |||
| Felipe Aguilar | 1.5pt each way 66-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Felipe Aguilar Again |
| Felipe has had a very solid season with no less than seven top 10s. His big moment this season was a T2 in the Spanish Open. He’s also had a couple of T3s too so it’s clear he’s well capable of posting punter-friendly finishes. He’s made his last five cuts at Crans, culminating in last year’s T6. We can see him going better this time. | |||
