This week’s event returns to the Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor . The course itself is a well known venue and was the host of the 2010 Ryder Cup. It’s quite a long par 71 of 7352 yards. Putting is key this week. Length and accuracy off the tee are also a significant advantage. The par 5 18th is a classic risk-reward hole. It’s worth noting that the event takes place later in the calendar this year – the 2010 edition being staged in June when Thongchai Jaidee was a surprise winner. Most of the household names are in America for the Fedex Cup so some of the lower ranked players will see this as a chance to shine.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Alvaro Quiros | 2pt each way 66-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T130 Back Alvaro Quiros Again |
Alvaro looks to be steadily getting back to form and this week seems to tick a lot of the boxes. In his one trip to the Twenty Ten course he mananged a decent T20 and his results are on an upward curve (T5 and T24 recently before three very solid rounds at Gleneagles). With his prowess with the driver he could well set up more birdie chances than most in what is a pretty weak field. It’s only a matter of time before Quiros puts it all together over four rounds. | |||
Pablo Larrazabal | 2pt each way 66-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: T106 Back Pablo Larrazabal Again |
We’re going for another Spaniard this week in the straky and unpredictable Pablo Larrazabal. His T4 in 2011 catches the eye as does his 5 for 5 in cuts made here. He’s not done much recently apart from his 4th at the French Open but he’ll be eyeing a big week on a course he likes against a weak field missing the big stars. |
