The European Tour is back in action this week after a three week break. The Gleneagles course will host the 2014 Ryder Cup and the Jack Nicklaus design has been remodelled slightly in the recent past with that event in mind. The course itself is a 7060 yard par 72 and the change in bunkering made it a little tighter from the tee in 2012. Paul Lawrie is the defending champion and it’s a pretty weak field as this tournament runs parallel to first round of the Fedex Cup Play-Offs in America.

Finishing position: 9 Back Thorbjorn Olesen Again |
It’s not often you get these kind of odds offered on the young Dane in these types of events many more. He’s suffered a bit this season by trying to play both tours and that always affects form. Nevertheless, he looks a class apart from most in this field and he’s had a couple of decent performances in the US PGA and at Firestone. He’s had a good T15 here last year and with the weather set fair he could take advantage of a weak field and post that long overdue second win. | |||
Brett Rumford | 2pt each way 50-1 | SportingBet TOP SIX |
Returned 10.33pts for T6 place finish!
Back Brett Rumford Again |
Brett has had a surprisingly good season in 2013, hitting form in late April with back to back wins. He’s only missed on cut in a regular tour event since and his three year stats at the Johnnie Walker make interesting reading. 2-MC-2 shows when he’s playing well he can contend round here. The depth of the field will be of no concern. He sits 9th in putts per GIR and if the putter is firing this week then he should be near the top of the leaderboard. |
