Russia hosts a European Tour event for the first time since 2008 this week. The tournament is held at Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club for the first time so there’s no real course form to go on. It’s a par 72 layout of 7491 yards and is a Jack Nicklaus design. Most of the holes are tree lined with water featuring on many of them. Accuracy off tee and fairway appears to be a key to success here. The field is pretty weak (favourite Dyson at 10-1!)so there are opportunities for the lesser players this week.

With a total lack of course form we’re concentrating on players with a little bit of momentum. Chris Doak is an up and coming player who featured prominently at the Scottish Open before finishing T12. He’ll have taken a lot out of that performance and has been in decent cut-making form of late. In an extremely weak field we can see a prominent performance this week.

Jamie has spent much of the season on the Challenge Tour but his two best finishes are in co-sanctioned events – T9 and T10. He clearly likes mixing it with the Tour pros and this week should be no different. He is capable of posting punter friendly finishes and his game seems in reasonable nick at the moment. He’s got the incentive to get his full Tour card and should be very keen to do well this week.
Mikael Lundberg	1pt each way 80-1	BetVictor	Finishing position: T69 Back Mikael Lundberg Again
Mikael has had a quiet season and is sitting 157th on the Race To Dubai rankings. He’s made more than half his cuts but not posted a really high finish. That could change this week. Talk about a Russian specialist – his two Tour wins were both in the Russian Open. We think he can rekindle some positive vibes this week and at such a tasty price it’s worth a small punt to find out in possibly the weakest field of the season.
