The AT&T is held over three courses (Pebble Beach – wide fairways, small greens, exposed to wind; Spyglass Hill – tight, small greens, hardest of the three; Monterey Penninsula – short, big greens). Pebble hosts two of the four rounds and wind can be a factor on these exposed links. This tournament follows the usual Pro-Am format of slow play and easy pin placements. Patience and decent current/course form are key factors here. Phil Mickelson defends – can he win two on the spin fresh from his victory at the Phoenix Open?

Finishing position: T12 Back Aaron Baddeley Again |
Three time tour winner Aaron Baddeley lines up this week looking for his third straight top ten in the AT&T. 6th and 4th in his last two starts show that he likes the unusual tournament set-up and can handle the slow pace of play. The Pro-Am format with easy pin placements fits nicely with a guy who is widely regarded as one of the best putters on tour. Three consecutive cuts made this season (T27, T6 and T65) with only one round over par show his general game is on good shape to contend again at Pebble Beach. | |||
Jason Kokrak | 1pt each way 200-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: MC Back Jason Kokrak Again |
Highlighted as one of our ‘ones to watch’ at the start of the season, Jason has already posted a T8 at the Humana Challenge. Vastly improved form towards the end of his rookie season in 2012 (including 2nd at the Frys.com) indicate a guy who’s finding his feet on tour. An eye catching T9 at the AT&T last season was an excellent first stab at this type of event, especially as he was hopelessly out of form at the time. Don’t forget he won twice on the Web.com tour in 2011 and the success of his fellow rookies in 2012 (Blixt, Huh, Beljan etc) will have inspired Kokrak to take the next step. |
