After a one year move to Cologne, the BMW International returns to its regular venue of Golfclub Munchen Eichenreid. The course is a relatively straightforward 7100 yard par 72. Scoring is usually low with a winning figure usually in the -16 to -20 range. Danny Willett is the defending champ but the last winner on this course is Pablo Larrazabal and the course certainly suits his attacking style.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Thorbjorn Olesen | 2pt each way 50-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T79 Back Thorbjorn Olesen Again |
Thorbjorn has had a bit of a rough time of it lately but as the old cliché goes ‘class is permanent. We all know he’s a fast improving player with a big future and his standing in World golf is increasing all the time. Quite simply, when a player of his calibre is available at these kind of odds then he has to be considered. We’re not concerned by him missing the cut by a mile at Merion on a track that was never going to suit. We can see him taking full advantage this week on a resort style course that’s going to yield a ton of birdies to long hitting aggressive players like Olesen. | |||
Paul Casey | 1.5pt each way 50-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T53 Back Paul Casey Again |
We firmly believe Paul is on the comeback trail. He had a good three rounds at Merion and he’ll have taken a lot out of that. He’s made 7 of 9 cuts on the European Tour this season and had a decent T8 at the China Open – another wide open course where low scores are needed. We reckon this is exactly the kind of undemanding track where he can make a breakthrough. He’s managed three 3rds on this course in the past so we se mo reason why he can’t pop up in the frame come Sunday. | |||
Mark Foster | 1pt each way 100-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T92 Back Mark Foster Again |
Mark has had a reasonable season so far with a T6 at the Malaysian Open his best finish thus far. He’s currently in decent cut-making form with a very solid T24 at Wentworth catching the eye. Of the outsiders this week we think Foster is worthy of consideration – principally due to two T3 in the last four events at the current venue. Factor in a T18 in Cologne last year and you have a guy who clearly likes the tournament. We think he’s well worth a small interest at these odds. |
