The Tour moves to Austria for what, it must be said, one of the lower key events of the year. Pretty much all the big names are missing in preparation for the US Open and the tournament offers very small prize fund. Diamond CC, just outside Vienna is a 7386 yard par 72 with water featuring on a number of holes. Accuracy is well rewarded and hitting greens in regulation seems to be key. The lead up to the tournament has been very wet, just like last year. Bernd Weisberger is the defending champion and should have a good chance once again (but 7-1!).

David is having his usual steady year with a series of quite high finishes this season. With limited course form to go on as Diamond GC has only staged the event since 2010, Drysdale’s T35-T15 frm figures aren’t bad. His confidence should be pretty high, especially as he had a top 20 at the PGA Championship last time out. In a very weak field we think David Drysdale is a solid each way punt.

Magnus is having a reasonable time this season, capped by a nice T4 at the Open de Espana. Like Drysdale, where course form is thin on the ground his T8 and T30 at Diamond GC should attract attention. A number of unheralded players are going to pop up in contention this week and we can well see Magnus being one of them.
