This event is being held at the Parador De El Saler course for the first time since 2001. It’s a 7000 yard par 72 and has a fairly open links-type feel. There’s not a great amount of course form to go on. Francesco Molinari defends but Sergio Garcia is the clear favourite in an understandably weak post Masters field.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Shane Lowry | 2pt each way 50-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: 69 Back Shane Lowry Again |
Shane is one of the fastest improving players in Europe. It’s clear what has win last season has done for him. He’s able to enter the bigger events, his confidence is increasing all the time and he’s well capable of adding another win or two this season. A couple of eye catching 9th places in the Volvo Champions and Accenture show a guy who when he’s on his game will have too much for most in this field. | |||
Alvaro Quiros | 2pt each way 80-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T115 Back Alvaro Quiros Again |
A previous winner of this event, Alvaro is a proven winner who is returning from a period of injury. If you look at the course (suits his long hitting) and the weak field then this place looks tailor made for a comeback. He’s played three events in March (two cuts made) which will go a long way towards shaking off any rust and he’s worth a small each-way nibble at these prices. | |||
Jose Manuel Lara | 1pt each way 150-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: 70 Back Jose Manuel Lara Again |
Jose is one of those really inconsistent players who can pop up with a couple of punter friendly finishes without warning. On home turf and on a course that would suit his game, we can see it happening here and he’s our outsider tip this week and we feel a small interest might just bear fruit come Sunday. |
