The Safeway Open starts the 2017-18 season and the venue this week is the Silverado Resort & Spa which was used for the first time in 2014. The event takes place over the 7200 yard par 72 North Course. Tree lined fairways await the competitors this week so accuracy off the tee will certainly help. There’s only one year’s course form to go on so current form should point to this week’s winner. Brendan Steele triumphed last year.

Kevin is a really good player and has added great consistency to his game over the last few years. He looks ready to add to his solitary Tour win soon. He had a string of solid results last season and made the Tour Championship. He’s had success on resort layouts in the past and 15-3-2-7 in his last four Safeway outings points to another contending performance.

Chris finally broke his duck earlier in the season winning the Barracuda. He also had a very good run at the US PGA. He looks like a player on the up and he could well capitalise on the thin field this week, especially after notching a top 10 here last year.

Martin is a good player and proven winner who certainly has his favourite events. He’s played some solid stuff this year and he certainly won’t be fazed by the field lining up this week. He’s had a 3rd and an 8th in his last three Safeway starts and looks a decent each way prospect.
