This is the first hosting of the Valderrama Masters since 2011 when Sergio Garcia won. The course needs no introduction to golf fans the world over. It’s a tree lined, tight 7000 yard par 71 which can be very tough indeed. Andrew Johnston won the Spanish Open here last year with a score of +1.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Joachim Lagergren | 2pt each way 66-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: MC Back Joachim Lagergren Again |
Joachim has really established himself on tour the last couple of years and could easily win a weakly contested event like this. He’s played well on all types of courses and can handle a tight, tree lined affair like this. Worth a small each way bet. | |||
Gregory Bourdy | 2pt each way 50-1 | BetFred |
Finishing position: MC Back Gregory Bourdy Again |
Keeping the ball in play is a vital component round Valderrama. Gregory Bourdy is very good at that and he’s in good form at the moment. He had a steady T19 last year but is in much better form this time around | |||
Alejandro Canizares | 2pt each way 50-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T36 Back Alejandro Canizares Again |
Of the home players we think Canizares offers best value. He’s got a great long term record around Valderrama with 21-7-11 in three visits here. He’s in sold cut making form and this is a bit of a specialist event and can be a proper grind |
