Yet another tournament played over two courses. The East Course is a par 72 of 7592 yards and is one of the longest on tour. A solid tee to green game is important here. Home players seem to feature heavily at the top of the leaderboard (11 South African players in punter-friendly places the last three years). This has to be borne in mind when making a selection. Branden Grace defends and he seems likely to figure again this year. There are few genuine course specialists here and the short priced favourites lack appeal.

Finishing position: T11 Back David Drysdale Again |
David could be described as one of the faceless majority on tour. He’s a steady player who makes a decent living and is capable of popping up with a punter-friendly finish every so often. Weakly contested co-sanctioned events such as this are exactly where this can happen. There are few genuine course specialists here (Schwartzel at 3-1 with Bet365 is the principal one) and David’s record catches the eye. Form of 3-MC-13-3 in the last four years point to a guy likes the course set up and is clearly well capable of encroaching on the top 5 again. A small interest at these odds appeals, especially if the short priced favourites (Schwartzel, Grace, Coetzee) have an off weekend. |
All quoted odds correct as of 14:00 on 05/02/13. These are obviously subject to fluctuation.
