The European Tour starts 2016 in South Africa at Glendower GC. It’s a relatively low key affair played on a 7500 yard par 72. It’s a fairly tight, tree lined set-up with water in play on many holes. Brandon Stone won on 2016. Rory heads the field this week at 5/2.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Jaco Van Zyl | 2pt each way 40-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T18 Back Jaco Van Zyl Again |
Jaco is a home favourite who, as you would expect, has a good record in his native South Africa. It’s a weak filed this week and he’s got a useful record at Glendower. T12 and T18 is good playing and we’re backing him to have a good run at it this time around. | |||
Trevor Fisher Junior | 2pt each way 80-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T5 Back Trevor Fisher Junior Again |
Trevor is a tour winner and can contend anywhere he tees it up in his homeland. He’s got a decent all round game and has a first class Glendower record. In his three starts here he has posted 7-15-8 and will like the look of the weak field. | |||
Lee Slattery | 2pt each way 125-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Lee Slattery Again |
Lee had a great 2015 posting his second Tour win and his all round play was much improved. He comes into this in high spirits having posted a number of consistent finishes over the last few years. He’s posted T3 and T27 in his last two starts at Glendower and will be looking for another contending performance this week. |
