TPC Deere Run is this week’s venue for the John Deere Classic in Illinois. The course is a very easy resort-style set-up which offers no real challenge to the pros. At least -20 is needed to win and Paul Goydos shot a 59 in 2010. It measures 7268 yards and is a par 71. The 18th is a tricky par 4 with water very much in play. It’s a pretty weak field as normal with Ryan Moore winning in 2016.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Johnson Wagner | 2pt each way 66-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Johnson Wagner Again |
We’re backing the enigma that is Johnson Wagner this week. He’s quietly amassed three tour wins and he’s playing some good stuff at the moment. He’s also posted three straight top 10s at Deere Run. Well worth an each way punt. | |||
Steve Stricker | 2pt each way 22-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T5 Back Steve Stricker Again |
Steve might be knocking on a bit but he can still mix it at the top table in golf. The John Deere Classic isn’t the top table. He’s won it three times and had numerous other high finishes. Slightly mingy odds but we think he can win it again. | |||
Zach Johnson | 2pt each way 25-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T5 Back Zach Johnson Again |
Local lad Zach Johnson has had a pretty ordinary season but if he can get firing somewhere then it will surely be Deere Run. His record in Illinios is absolutely first class. Six top three’s in the last eight years speaks for itself. We’re happy to gobble up this early price. |
