The US Open moves to a new venue in Erin Hills for this year’s edition. It’s a 7800 yard par 72 but the course is looking very tough with narrow, hard running fairways and lightning fast greens. An over par winning score looks likely. It could be described as an inland links-style layout. Dustin Johnson won last year’s event at a very different Oakmont.

No doubt, his immaculate tee to green game fits the US Open well and he’s had a string of good finishes, including an eye catching T4 at Merion in 2013 which can be classed as the last true US Open course used. Good each way prospect.
