The Sony Open is the first full field event on the PGA Tour in 2014. Waialae is a fairly narrow, 7068 yard, short par 70 course that usually favours the more accurate hitters. A glance down the previous winners shows the type of players who prosper here: Wagner, Mark Wilson, Choi, Goydos, Zach Johnson. Any of the par 70 specialists are worthy of consideration. Fabian Gomez triumphed in 2016.

Charles is a good all round player who seems to lack the killer instinct when in contention. He should have won way more than his two PGA Tour titles. If he’s going to win this season it’s probably going to be the Sony Open. Simply, he’s had seven punter friendly finishes in his last fourteen starts here. This is a good price with his track record.

Harold had a very good rookie season and kept his card with ease. He’s got a decent all round game and is a long driver. To cap off a fine 2016 he had a European Tour victory in South Africa late on. He’ll be full of confidence this week and last year’s T13 on his first look at Waialae bodes well.
Zach Johnson	2pt each way 50-1	Bet365	Finishing position: T6 Back Zach Johnson Again
Zach is exactly the kind of neat and tidy player who thrives on a par 70 set-up. He’s posted top 10s here in two of the last three years and has a solid long term Waialae record, including a win in 2009. It’s hard to ignore a player of Johnson’s calibre at this price.
