The PGA Tour visits a new venue this week for the third leg of the Fedex Cup Play-offs. Conway Farms has hosted a number of amateur events but this is its first appearance on Tour. The course is built on farmland in the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest. There are a variety of holes, some tree lined and a number exposed to the wind. In fact wind could be a factor this week. It’s a 7149 par 71 with reachable par 5s and a couple of par 4s which are driveable from the forward tees. Rory McIlroy is the defending champ but with no course form this one looks wide open. The top 70 in the Fedex Cup compete.

This course sets up perfectly for the straight hitting Zach Johnson. Accuracy off the tee will be crucial and he has that. His close season swing changes have bedded in and five top 10s in his last six starts is all you need to know about the state of his game right now. The putter has really heated up over the last couple of months too. He’s a must bet this week at good odds.

Jim’s playing some great golf at the moment. Again his accuracy off tee and fairway will be crucial this week. He’s looked a bit creaky under pressure of late but we feel there might just be another win or two in the old dog. 9-9-2-6-27 are great form figures and it’s easy to see why he’s going to be well fancied this week.

Finally, our last selection is another experience, straight hitting, proven winner. Mahan has had another really solid season with a series of high finishes in big events. Again, Conway Farms appears ideally suited with tight landing areas, small greens and thick rough. He’s had 10 top 25s this season which is great consistency. Add in top 35 for fairways hit, GIR and strokes gained putting and you have a winner in waiting (hopefully!).
