This week marks the start of the Fedex Cup Play-Offs with The Barclays. The event is held this year at Liberty National GC in New York. The course is next to the Hudson bay and most holes have a view over the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. It’s a par 71 of 7400 yards and has a definite links feel with few trees and wind a potential factor. The 2009 Barclays was held here (Heath Slocum won with -9) but the course has had a few minor changes since.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Brandt Snedeker | 2pt each way 35-1 | Paddypower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Brandt Snedeker Again |
We feel this is a great price for the defending Fedex Cup champion. Everyone knows about his super 2013 form (2 wins and $5m banked). Yes, he’s been a little quiet since his Canadian win in late July but factor in his solid T12 on this course in 2009 and we think he’s a cracking each way pick. | |||
Webb Simpson | 2pt each way 30-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T15 Back Webb Simpson Again |
Webb has had a steady time this season but still stands 17th in the Fedex Cup. He’s been in solid cut-making form of late with four top 25s in his last six starts. He looks ready to challenge to us and will be keen to sign of the season with a win. Take into account a nice T8 in 2009 at Liberty National when he was a far lesser player than he is now and we feel he could go very close come Sunday. | |||
Matt Jones | 1pt each way 125-1 | BetVictor TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T33 Back Matt Jones Again |
Our outside pick this week is one of the form players of the moment. It’s only a matter of time before he posts his first win. He’s a very solid 37th in the Fedex Cup but we’re more interested in his current form. 2-7-40-5 is very promising for a player being offered at these odds and we believe his rock solid game (7th in All Round ranking) can carry him to a high finish this week. |
