After a year break the Canadian Open returns to Glen Abbey GC for the first time since 2009. Course form for ‘08 and ’09 is especially significant. The course is a 7253 yard par 72 designed by Jack Nicklaus.. The Canadian seems generally to be a bit of an outsider’s tournament. Scott Piercy is the defending champ. Can he repeat the feat but on a different course?

Charley Hoffman | 2pt each way 50-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T16 Back Charley Hoffman Again |
Regular readers will know that we thick Charley Hoffman is going to win this season. He’s had a very consistent year with five top 10s so far and looks ready to contend again in a field that really isn’t that strong. He’s gone T4-MC in his last two Canadian starts but we think with his current form he can easily contend come Sunday.
Scott Stallings | 1.5pt each way 66-1 | BetVictor TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Scott Stallings Again |
We think Scott Stallings may well add to his two career wins this season. He’s had a good year so far and sits 29th in the Fedex Cup. He’s managed 22-7 in his last two Canadian Open starts and, whilst he’s been a bit quiet the last month or so, Stallings is a player who can find form quickly and should be a decent each-way bet this week.
Jerry Kelly | 1pt each way 80-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: WD Back Jerry Kelly Again |
Jerry has had something of a renaissance in 2013 with a couple of nice punter friendly finishes. In fact he’s made 9 of his last 10 cuts with a very eye catching T4 last time out at the John Deere Classic. He’s playing some of his best golf for a long time and he also managed a T5 on this course in 2009. We feel he’s worth a small each way punt this week when the big guns will still be recuperating from Muirfield. |
