This week is one of the highlights of the European Calendar and as ever a strong field lines up at Wentworth. The course is a classic parkland track and is a 7300 yard par 72. A number of changes have been made in recent years, especially Ernie Els’ controversial butchering of the 18th. The course certainly favours the longer hitters and the four par 5s are there for the taking. An Bayeong-Hun is the defending champ.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Scott Hend | 2pt each way 125-1 | Bet365 TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T15 Back Scott Hend Again |
We have had success this season with a 55-1 winner on big hitting Scott Hend. He’s added a finesse to his game that has propelled him to a series of big finishes and Wentworth plays into his hands. He’s only played here once with a MC but he’s playing the golf of his life and will eat the par fives for breakfast. | |||
Matthew Fitzpatrick | 2pt each way 50-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T47 Back Matthew Fitzpatrick Again |
As we all know young Matthew is going to be a real star and he rewarded us with a 33-1 winner at Woburn late last year. He’s a quality player and we fancy him to go well this week on another venerable English course. Well worth an each way punt at this early price. | |||
Alex Noren | 2pt each way 66-1 | PaddyPower TOP SEVEN |
Finishing position: T43 Back Alex Noren Again |
Now fully rehabilitated from a nasty wrist injury, Alex is getting back to his best. On form he’s one of the most consistent players on tour. He’s also posted two top 10s in his last three starts and is coming into this one on the back of T8 last year. We’ll worth an each way nibble. |
