This week marks the start of the Fedex Cup Play-Offs with The Barclays. The event is held this year at Bethpage Black for the first time since 2012. This course has hosted the 2002 and 2009 US Opens and is a long, hilly, well bunkered 7468 yard par 71. Jason Day is the defending champ.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Phil Mickelson | 2pt each way 33-1 | Boylesports |
Finishing position: T13 Back Phil Mickelson Again |
Phil rewarded us with a very nice 2nd place at The Open this year and has been playing some good stuff. He looks a good fit this week as he has posted two runner-up finishes at Bethpage and we think he’s well set for another contending performance. | |||
Jim Furyk | 2pt each way 45-1 | SkyBet TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T41 Back Jim Furyk Again |
Jim is something of a Fedex Cup specialist and he’s been playing some good stuff since coming back from a wrist injury, culminating in a super 58 last week. He should be able to plot his way round Bethpage and we’re happy to have an each way punt on him this week. | |||
Johnson Wagner | 2pt each way 175-1 | Stan James TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T22 Back Johnson Wagner Again |
Wagner has finished the season strongly and what we like this week is how well his tee to green game has fared. He’s posted high finishes in his last two starts and we’re backing him to hit more greens than most this week. If the putter behaves he could figure. |
