This week’s event is the last tournament before the Fedex Cup starts and it’s also the last chance for those players outside the top 125 to secure a full card for 2016/17. Sedgefield CC in North Carolina is a Donald Ross design, measuring 7127 yards. The par 70 layout means the shorter hitters are at less of a disadvantage. The fairways are relatively generous but the greens are a bit on the small side. Certainly, the traditional par 70 specialists tend to prosper here. Davis Love III is the defending champion. It’s worth keeping an eye on those just outside the Fedex Cup top 125 as they’ll have an extra incentive this week.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Bill Haas | 2pt each way 28-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: T22 Back Bill Haas Again |
Bill is a class player and proven winner who can usually be relied upon to notch a victory each season. He sits 31st in the Fedex Cup and has a first class Wyndham record. 7-20-2-6 in his last four starts at Sedgefield is good playing and we see no reason why he will not continue that good record this week. | |||
Ben Martin | 2pt each way 80-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Ben Martin Again |
Ben’s been a little quiet of late but had a very impressive run at the John Deere in finishing runner up to Ryan Moore. He’s a quality player and a winner when on form and he’ll have some momentum coming into this one. He posted a T10 last time out at the Wyndham and could go closer this time. | |||
Bud Cauley | 2pt each way 100-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T10 Back Bud Cauley Again |
Bud burst onto the scene a few years ago and has since spent a little time in the doldrums. He’s been playing some decent stuff this season and needs a good week in North Carolina. He has posted T4 at the Byron Nelson and was a good T8 last time out at the John Deere. Dial in T3 here in 2012 and he could be an outsider with a chance this week. |
