The PGA Tour moves to West Virginia for the Greenbrier Classic. This event is held at the Old White TPC at White Sulphur Springs. The field usually in not especially strong and this year continues that theme with only twelve of the World’s top 50 in attendance. Obviously, this gives some of the Tours lesser lights the chance to shine. The course is a 7274 yard par 70 which finishes with a par 3 with a strange humped green. The course is not especially tough (Appleby scared 59 in 2010). Ted Potter Jnr is the defending champion.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Scott Stallings | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T23 Back Scott Stallings Again |
Scott Stallings has really matured as a player over the last few years. On the way he’s collected two tour wins, including The Greenbrier Classic in 2011. We’re ignoring his T56 in his title defence last year and think he’s bang-on for a contending performance this week. He’s had four Top 5s this season already (three in his last five starts) and this can be attributed to much improved putting. We expect him to be right in the mix come Sunday and you can be sure that he will not be afraid to win. | |||
Brian Davis | 1.5pt each way 80-1 | Paddy Power TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T30 Back Brian Davis Again |
Brian is having a very solid season and is playing some of his best golf for a good while. He’s made 11 of his last 12 cuts and had a solid T8 last week, his third top ten in twelve starts. Factor in a T18 here in 2011 and he could take advantage of a pretty weak field. | |||
Charlie Beljan | 1pt each way 250-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: MC Back Charlie Beljan Again |
Charlie is a real up and down player who can find form and deliver a punter friendly finish at any time. These are always at massive odds too. His better results have seemed to be on the shorter, easier courses. He’s certainly no grinder. He pretty much announced himself to the golfing world at the Greenbrier last year with an exciting T3. He cemented his tour card with an emotional win at the final event last season and nearly repeated the trick at Riviera in February. We see no reason why he cannot pop up again on a course he likes that will surely have positive vibes from 2012. Has to be worth a small punt at these odds. |
