The Sony Open is the first full field event on the PGA Tour in 2014. Waialae is a fairly narrow, 7068 yard, short par 70 course that usually favours the more accurate hitters. A glance down the previous winners shows the type of players who prosper here: Wagner, Mark Wilson, Choi, Goydos, Zach Johnson. Any of the par 70 specialists are worthy of consideration. Jimmy Walker was the winner here the last two years.

Charles is a good all round player who seems to lack the killer instinct when in contention. He should have won way more than his two PGA Tour titles. If he’s going to win this season it’s probably going to be the Sony Open. Simply, he’s had seven punter friendly finishes in his last thirteen starts here. This is a good price with his track record.

Mark has steadily grown in stature over the last couple of years – posting some high finishes in big events. He’s a great wind player and it can get a bit breezy in Hawaii and he has a liking for Waialae. He’s 6/6 for cuts made with T9 and T5 in the last three years. We’re happy to snap up Coral’s early price.

Ryan is a good all round player who looks like he’ll win this season. 2015 he was his usual consistent self and his neat and tidy play sets up well for Waialae. He’s had a win a T8 and T17 in his last six starts and we’ll happy to have a small punt on him this week.
