After the excitement of the US Open the Tour heads to Conneticut to for the Travelers Championship. As ever, the event is held at TPC River Highlands. The course is very short at 6841 yards and consistently ranks as the easiest par 70 of the year. Making birdies is the name of the game here and -15 to -18 should be needed for victory. Eight of the World’s top 25 are provisionally going to be in attendance. Marc Leishman won in 2012 with a sparkling final round 62.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Ryan Moore | 2pt each way 40-1 | PaddyPower 1/4 odds TOP SIX! |
Finishing position: T7 Back Ryan Moore Again |
Pretty much every pundit going was tipping Ryan Moore for glory in 2012. It didn’t happen as he trailed in T47. Nevertheless, his long term form here is first class, especially as he’s always a hot-and-cold kind of player. T6, T13 and three missed cuts kind of sums him up. However he cannot be ignored on a course he loves and we can see him going very close indeed this week. | |||
Tim Clark | 2pt each way 66-1 | BetFred |
Finishing position: T58 Back Tim Clark Again |
Tim has had a slightly in-and-out year so far but has made his fair share of dollars as usual. It is no surprise that his two best results so far have come on par 70s at Waialae (2nd) and Colonial (T7). He’s every inch a par 70 specialist and River Highlands sets up well. We’re unconcerned by his US Open missed cut. We’re far more interested in his T4 last year in his first Travelers start in seven years. He’s not frightened of going low on a par 70 as his -20 in Hawaii this season will testify. We think he’s well capable of going even better this time around at very attractive odds. | |||
Tommy Gainey | 1pt each way 175-1 | BetVictor TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T18 Back Tommy Gainey Again |
Tommy has had a quiet year so far but he’s definitely a player who can catch fire at any time. He’s also a par 70 and bent grass specialist. The course sets up well for his attacking style and he’s not going to be overly punished by the odd wayward tee shot. He’s worth a small nibble at these odds on a course where he’s had T17 and T18 in his last two starts. |
