The PGA Tour returns to the US this week for the RSM Classic, formerly the McGladrey Classic. The event is again hosted at Sea Island, Georgia. The course is a 7000 yard par 70 seaside links. Wind can be a factor and the shorter hitters and par 70 specialists have a definite chance. One of the early rounds will be played at the inland Plantation course. The field is fairly weak and most of the big names are staying away. Robert Streb won last year’s edition.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Charles Howell III | 2pt each way 50-1 | BetFred |
Finishing position: T9 Back Charles Howell III Again |
We’re happy to have another nibble at Charles this week. He’s had a solid year, as ever, and seems to have a liking for Sea Island. He’s had two top 10s in his five starts here and could well take advantage of the relatively weak field. | |||
Chris Stroud | 2pt each way 80-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: MC Back Chris Stroud Again |
Chris is a good solid pro and in the ‘winner about to happen’ category. He comes into our thinking on any Par 70 and he seems at ease on links courses. He’s on a good run and has had a T2 and T10 in his last three starts. His record at Sea Island isn’t that great but the other first time winners this season could just inspire him. | |||
Brian Harman | 2pt each way 55-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Brian Harman Again |
Brian is a good solid player who posted his maiden victory last year at the John Deere. He’s played solidly since and was T7 on his last outing. He’s got a solid record at Sea Island with 100% of cuts made and a T10 in 2013. We think he’s a solid each way prospect this week against a weak field. |
