The PGA Tour makes its regular stop in Tennessee this week at the Fedex St. Jude Classic in Memphis. This event is always played at the 7200 yard par 70 TPC at Southwind. As last year this is the final event before the US Open. As a result only five of the World’s top 30 are scheduled to be present. The course certainly sets up for the more accurate hitters and water is a regular feature on many holes. The par 4 18th is a particularly tough finish. -12 is probably going to be around the winning figure. Dustin Johnson is the defending champ.

Camillo Villegas | 1.5pt each way 66-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX! |
Finishing position: T10 Back Camillo Villegas Again |
After a shocker of a season in 2012 Camillo Villegas is looking to get his career back on track. His record at TPC Southwind is very good indeed. Six out of seven cuts made and a T8 and T3 amongst them. The course suits his accuracy well and we can see him finding the putting surface more than most this week. He should be well motivated to make the most of his restricted appearances this season and we can see it happening in Memphis on a course he knows well that sets up nicely for him.
Brian Davis | 1.5pt each way 66-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX! |
Finishing position: T35 Back Brian Davis Again |
Brian is hitting form this season at just the right time. He’s been in solid cut-making form over the last couple of months with a pair of nice top 10s, including a nice T8 last week at Memorial. He’s also had a 2nd at Southwind back in 2007 and we think his neat and tidy game sets up well and he could easily fly under the radar at a tasty price.
Tim Clark | 2pt each way 40-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX! |
Finishing position: MC Back Tim Clark Again |
We like the look of Tim Clark this week. He’s having a very solid season indeed and these kind of courses suit the 37 year old South African down to the ground. He’s very much a par 70 specialist. He’s not played Southwind a great deal over the years but he’s made his last four cuts here. He should have a degree of momentum after a good T7 at Colonial (another par 70) and a season’s best 2nd in Hawaii (par 70 again). We think he could well take advantage of a weak field and be in the mix come Sunday. |
