Le Golf National just outside Paris is this week’s venue and the course will also play host to the 2018 Ryder Cup. There is a decent field this week, attracted by the good prize money on offer and keen to warm up for The Open. The course is a par 71 of 7300 yards and the rough has been allowed to grow longer in recent years. Water features on a number of holes. Graeme McDowell has won the last two editions.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |

Rafael Cabrera-Bello | 2pt each way 40-1 | BetVictor |
Returned 22pts for 5 place finish!
Back Rafael Cabrera-Bello Again |
Certainly not our most original pick but Rafa has rewarded our followers with 100-1 and 50-1 place wins over the last year or so. He’s had a quiet start but his form is on a fast upward curve at the moment. 4-13-2-11 in his last four starts is first class. He was also halfway leader last week in Germany and we think he’ll shake off the last bit of contention rust and contend successfully very soon.
Soren Kjeldsen | 1pt each way 40-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: T15 Back Soren Kjeldsen Again |
Soren is having something of a renaissance this season and had a super win at the Irish Open a few weeks ago. He’s playing good golf and his French Open form is really solid. 9-8-18 in his last three visits is good and he’ll be coming into this one with confidence high.
Thongchai Jaidee | 2pt each way 33-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: T10 Back Thongchai Jaidee Again |
Jaidee has had a solid season and had another good wee in Germany at the weekend. He’s talked about being happy with his game and as a proven winner could easily contend this week. He’s had a T26 and T15 in his last four French Open starts before 2014’s runner up finish and is coming into this week in fine fettle. |
