The Tour moves to Northern Ireland this week for an event hosted by Rory McIlroy. It’s taking place at Royal County Down GC which is a 7186 yard par 71 and is a classic seaside links. There’s no course form to speak of as it was last used in 1939 but the links specialist are sure to fancy it. Mikko Illonen won last year at Fota Island which was a very different set up. Will Rory’s off course duties distract him this week?
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Marc Warren | 2pt each way 55-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: MC Back Marc Warren Again |
Mark is a good wind player and he’ll like the look of this week. Certainly, he’ll be fancying this one after a very solid T18 at Wentworth last week. He can handle the breezy conditions, as proved in his win (tipped by us) in Denmark last season. We think he’s a got a chance this week at a pretty good price. | |||
Tommy Fleetwood | 2pt each way 40-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: T21 Back Tommy Fleetwood Again |
We’ve had some success with Tommy in the past and he looks to be getting back to his best. He’s had a T3, T5 and T6 in his last three starts and he’s the type of player who can hold his form for a sustained period. He’s contended on links in the past and we see no reason why he cannot challenge for win No.2 this week. | |||
Stephen Gallacher | 2pt each way 110-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: MC Back Stephen Gallacher Again |
We think it’s about time Stephen shook off his Ryder Cup hangover. He’s a talented player who is certainly a ‘horses for courses’ type. His Dubai record says that. He’s had a very moderate season but can still contend in favourable conditions. He’s a talented wind and links player and rewarded us with a good place win at Royal Aberdeen last season. On a level playing field this week Gallacher could shine once more. |
