This week is one of the highlights of the European Calendar and as ever a strong field lines up at Wentworth. The course is a classic parkland track and is a 7300 yard par 72. A number of changes have been made in recent years, especially Ernie Els’ controversial butchering of the 18th. The course certainly favours the longer hitters and the four par 5s are there for the taking. Rory McIlroy won last year and is the red hot favourite this time around.

Branden is a truly top class player who can find form and win at any moment. His last win was in Qatar earlier this season and he’s played steadily since. He’s had two top 10s in his last three visits here and he looks a decent each way bet at this price.

Shane has had a good few years and is developing into a really good quality player. He’s a proven winner and had a good few tournaments in America earlier this year. He should probably have won at Wentworth last year when T2. He’s also had a T4 and T12 in the last four years.
Alvaro Quiros	2pt each way 175-1	Stan James TOP SIX	Finishing position: T46 Back Alvaro Quiros Again
Alvaro has had a torrid time with injuries over the last few years and is well on the road to recovery. At his best he’s a mega-long hitter, proven winner and a fearless competitor who can literally overpower a course. The par 5s at Wentworth are there for the taking and if there’s a venue where he can bag his long awaited seventh victory then this is it. He’s had a couple of decent results this week and is worth a tiny punt at a big price.
