The Memorial traditionally attracts one of the strongest non-Major fields of the season. 17 of the World’s top 25 are entered this week. The event, as ever, is staged at the Jack Nicklaus deigned Muirfield Village GC. Tiger Woods is the defending champion and is hunting a sixth victory here. He’s surely going to take some beating – we’re looking at guys offering value who can sneak into the top five this week. The course is a par 72 of 7352 yards. The fairways are pretty wide but the Bentgrass greens are heavily contoured and lightning fast. It will take maybe -14 to get the job done this week.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Bo Van Pelt | 2pt each way 60-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T21 Back Bo Van Pelt Again |
Bo has had his usual solid start to the season with solid cut making and a few high finishes – the highlight being T6 at Wells Fargo. He’s got very solid course form at Memorial with a couple of third places and only two missed cuts in nine starts. He looks a solid bet at the odds quoted to be in the mix come Sunday. | |||
Ryan Moore | 1pt each way 125-1 | PaddyPower |
Finishing position: T13 Back Ryan Moore Again |
Ryan is a very inconsistent player – but also a proven winner. He’s always going to miss cuts but can easily pop up in the frame on his favourite courses. Muirfield Village is one of those. He’s had three top 10s including a 2nd and a 5th in the last six years and he must have a chance of sneaking a top five. | |||
Matt Every | 1pt each way 125-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Matt Every Again |
Matt looks to be hitting form at the right time with a good T4 at Colonial. He had a very solid season in 2012 with two 2nds and a 3rd. What really catches the eye is his T6 at Memorial in 2012 in his only start at this event. We think he’s well worth a small nibble at these prices. |
