The Texas swing continues this week and moves to Fort Worth and Colonial CC. This is one of the oldest established and traditional tournaments of the year. The course itself is a 7200 yard par 70 and certainly favours the straight hitters. The fairways are relatively narrow and tree lined, although the rough isn’t particularly punishing. As ever in Texas, the wind can be a significant factor. Zach Johnson defends and he’s exactly the kind of player who prospers here.

---|---|---|---|
Ryan Palmer | 1.5pt each way 40-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T14 Back Ryan Palmer Again |
Ryan Palmer is quietly having a really consistent season. He’s had three top 10s thus far including an impressive T5 at The Players. He’s one of those guys who quietly goes about his business in a very effective manner and has amassed 3 PGA Tour wins almost unnoticed. Factor in his T5 here last season and solid, long term cut-making form at Colonial and we have a very solid proposition here. His high finishes tend to come in little clusters and we think he’s building one right now. In a season of surprise winners here’s absolutely no question of his ability to contend here. | |||
Ben Crane | 1.5pt each way 40-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: MC Back Ben Crane Again |
Ben Crane is a player on the up. A T4 and T8 in his last four starts show his game is coming together nicely. Two of his four PGA Tour wins have been on par 70s and he’s a bit of a specialist. T3-MC-T10-T46-T5-T4-T17 are interesting form figures. We certainly think his game is coming together nicely and he’s well capable of contending this week on one of his favourite tracks. We can see win No. 5 coming fairly soon and he probably should have won at Colonial before now. | |||
Tim Clark | 1.5pt each way 50-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T7 Back Tim Clark Again |
We like the look of Tim Clark this week. He’s absolutely the kind of neat and tidy player who prospers on a short, tight par 70 like this. He’s had a couple of 2nd places here and a solid T19 last season. He’s had a solid start this time round with a 2nd place (par 70 Waialae) and stands well up in the Fedex Cup rankings. Everything seems to set up for a contending performance and this is exactly the type of course where he can post win No. 2. |
