We’ve got a brand new event this week in the shape of the True Thailand Classic which takes place at Black Mountain GC. It’s a 7359 yard par 72 and the organisers are promising thick rough and fast greens so maybe accuracy from the tee will be an advantage. It’s been used for a couple of Asian Tour events but there’s no meaningful course form to go on this week.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Romain Wattel | 2pt each way 66-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: T31 Back Romain Wattel Again |
We’ve had a few good results with Romain in 2014. He’s had a quiet start to the year but seems to be on an upward curve now and we consider him to be firmly in the winner about to happen category. If he finds anything like 2014’s form this week then he’ll be a factor come Sunday. | |||
Robert Rock | 2pt each way 66-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: MC Back Robert Rock Again |
Robert has been slowly building his form back after a barren couple of years following his big Abu Dhabi win. He seems firmly on the comeback trail and has had some good results away from the European mainland through his career. What catches our eye is the T9-T16 current form against a pretty thin field. That’s enough for us to get on board this week. | |||
David Drysdale | 1pt each way 150-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: MC Back David Drysdale Again |
David is a steady player who makes a decent living and is capable of popping up with a punter-friendly finish every so often. Weakly contested co-sanctioned events such as this are exactly where this can happen. David caught the eye making a 40 footer to retain his card last year. He’s started this season in good fashion with a couple of T6’s and a T11. If the rough is as thick as the organisers say, Drysdale will be as good at keeping out of it as anyone. |
All quoted odds correct as of 16:00 on 09/02/2015. These are obviously subject to fluctuation.
