A solid field lines up this week at Doha Golf Club in Qatar. The course is a 7400 yard par 72 with a winning score usually around -15. The course is fairly open with a bit of room off the tee. Wind can be a major factor here. Sergio Garcia won the 2014 edition and is the early 7-1 favourite to defend his title.
NOTE: This event starts on Wednesday!

George Coetzee | 2pt each way 50-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: 12 Back George Coetzee Again |
George had his breakthrough win in the Joburg Open last year and has played steadily enough since. He’s got a pretty solid all round game and will be looking for another win in 2015. He managed Tt5 in Qatar last year on the back of T2 in 2013. He had three under par rounds last week in Abu Dhabi and we’re happy to have a small nibble on George to see if he can turn it on again this year.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello | 2pt each way 60-12 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T33 Back Rafael Cabrera-Bello Again |
We’re happy to snap up this early price on the Desert specialist Cabrera Bello. He had a rusty MC last week but we’re willing to wager that he’ll be a tad sharper in Qatar where he placed T3 last year. He’s got to be worth a small interest in a more weakly contested event this week where he has two punter friendly finishes in his last four starts.
Tyrell Hatton | 1pt each way 50-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: MC Back Tyrell Hatton Again |
The fiery Hatton seems to be building on a promising debut season in 2014 and is steadily building a very decent desert record. He had a solid T6 last week in Abu Dhabi against a stronger field and managed a solid T22 in Qatar last year when a complete unknown. We think Hatton is capable of entering the winners circle and maybe this week will be it. |
