This week’s event is the final Major of the year. It returns to Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. The course is a long 7500 yard par 72 with a tough finishing hole. It’s a links-style set up on the shores of Lake Michigan and was last used in 2010 when Martin Kaymer won. Rory McIlroy won last year and appears to be fit to defend after his football injury.

The only thing missing from Matt Kuchar’s CV is a Major. This could be the one. He’s been in decent form of late with a couple of top 10s in his last four starts. We all know he’s a proven winner and he’s certainly capable of landing a Major. His T10 at Whistling Straits in 2010 just adds a little more fuel to the fire.

We don’t think Paul Casey is far off a win. He sits a lofty 22nd in the Fedex Cup and has had a great season so far. Whistling Straits should play to his ball striking strengths. He should hit his share of greens and a solid T17 at Firestone at the weekend will have done his confidence no harm.

Patrick is definitely a world class player after a string of wins over the last couple of years. He’s quietly playing some decent golf and is in solid cut making form. He can find form quickly and has amassed three straight top 20s. The course should suit his game with fairly generous fairways and big greens. We can see him flying under the radar with a contending performance this week.
