The PGA Tour moves to North Carolina this week for a stop at Quail Hollow GC. This is one of the most highly rated courses of the year and there is a predictably strong field for the event. At 7400 yards with light rough, the course certainly favours the longer hitters. Finding plenty of greens in regulation is a pre-requisite for a good week. Ricky Fowler defends and generally the good ball strikers prosper here. A winning score around -16 should be enough.

Finishing position: T16 Back D A Points Again |
Sometimes you just have to go with a guy in form and Mr. Points certainly that. A victory and last week’s second place are all you need to know about the state of his game at the moment. Last season’s 2nd at Quail Hollow is the cherry on the cake. At these odds he has to be worth a small each way punt and, assuming his form holds for another week, he should be in the mix on Sunday.
Robert Garrigus | 2pt each way 60-1 | PaddyPower 1/4 odds TOP SIX! |
Finishing position: T27 Back Robert Garrigus Again |
We really like the look of Robert Garrigus this week. He fits the profile of a strong, aggressive, big-hitting player of the type who prospers at Quail Hollow. 9th and 15th in his last two starts are very encouraging stats. He’s had a perfectly decent start to the season and looks well capable of contending here. The course really suits his game and his one real weakness (cold putter) shouldn’t be badly punished at all at a venue where scoring is normally fairly high. If the putter is even vaguely warm we can see a strong contending performance at a really good price.
Matt Jones | 1pt each way 125-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: MDF Back Matt Jones Again |
We’re going for Matt again this week for pretty much the same reasons as last week. He’s a fast improving player who’s looking to make a mark this season. The solid form continued in New Orleans last week. Another cut made with ease and a T32 finish which could have been better. We like the look of T7 and T21 in his only two starts at Quail Hollow. We think this guy is going to post a punter friendly finish at a big price very soon. |
