The first major of the year is here. The Masters is always played at Augusta National GC and the course is sure to present the usual challenges. It’s a 7400 yard par 72 with the usual lightning fast sloping greens. There’s a fair bit of room from the tee and the long hitters have a distinct advantage – just ask Bubba Watson who’s won two out of the last three! Rory McIlroy is the 6-1 favourite. Can he complete his Grand Slam this week?
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Matt Kuchar | 2pt each way 33-1 | PaddyPower TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T46 Back Matt Kuchar Again |
Matt has been banging on the door of his first major for a while. There’s reason to believe he could do it at Augusta. He’s a proven winner and he has a great long term Augusta record. T3-T8-T5 is a very solid record and we see absolutely no reason why he won’t be in the higher echelons of the leaderboard this week. | |||
Brandt Snedeker | 2pt each way 45-1 | SkyBet TOP SIX |
Finishing position: MC Back Brandt Snedeker Again |
Brandt has had a resurgence of form this season after a quiet year by his standards. He’s finished in the top 20 in five of his last seven starts – including a win at Pebble Beach. A T17 at Doral and T13 at Bay Hill sets him up nicely for a tilt at his first major. Dial in Augusta form of 3-MC-15-19-6 before last year’s out-of-sorts T37 sets up well. He could surprise this week at a value price. | |||
Angel Cabrera | 2pt each way 100+1 | SkyBet TOP SIX |
Finishing position: T22 Back Angel Cabrera Again |
Angel tends to save his best performances for the Masters. He’s won it in 2009 and had a T7 since together with 2103’s runner up finish to Adam Scott. His win at The Greenbrier last summer shows there’s life in the old dog yet and a small each way stake might yield some reward come Sunday night. |
