The Sony Open is the first full field event on the PGA Tour in 2014. Waialae is a fairly narrow, 7068 yard, short par 70 course that usually favours the more accurate hitters. A glance down the previous winners shows the type of players who prosper here: Wagner, Mark Wilson, Choi, Goydos, Zach Johnson. Any of the par 70 specialists are worthy of consideration. Jimmy Walker was the winner here 12 months ago.

Charles is a good all round player who seems to lack the killer instinct when in contention. He should have won way more than his two PGA Tour titles. If he’s going to win this season it’s probably going to be the Sony Open. Simply, he’s had seven punter friendly finishes in his last thirteen starts here. 25-1 won’t be around long and he’s a must back at that price.

Tim had a decent run in 2014 and rewarded our followers when victorious at the Canadian Open at 80-1. He’s a guy who always comes into our thoughts on a par 70 and he’s managed two T2s at Waialae in his last three starts here. He’ll be match fit having contested the Hyundai and is a must back for us this week.

Tony is a good player with a bright future. He’s already had a string of high finishes this season. Whilst this is his first look at Walalae, we think he’s got a chance here. The rough is fairly light and he’s going to be hitting shorter irons into the greens than most. Let’s have a small punt on there being another early season rookie winner this week.
