The first event on the PGA Tour in 2015 is a restricted field event featuring all the winners in 2013 (or at least those who want to turn up). Some of the big names who would be eligible to play are missing so this one looks pretty wide open. In fact, half the field has never played the event before.
The Plantation Course at Kapalua is a wide open par 73 of 7411 yards with the 663 yard par 5 18th the signature hole. Wind can be a factor but the course should suit the longer hitters. Zach Johnson won last year’s event.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Billy Horschel | 2pt each way 25-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: T22 Back Billy Horschel Again |
As we all know Billy had a stellar Fedex Cup and has taken his career up a couple of notches. Question is, can he sustain his progress in 2015? We’re happy to take a pretty generous price to find out this week. He’s a long driver and the Plantation course should suit his game with its wide open fairways and his T6 last year catches the eye. In a restricted field like this he seems pretty good each way value. | |||
Kevin Streelman | 2pt each way 33-1 | PaddyPower |
Finishing position: T22 Back Kevin Streelman Again |
Kevin is a very streaky player who can pile up a lot of birdies in a short space of time. He had a storming finish to win last season. He’ll have good memories of twelve months ago when T3 here and we think he’s got a decent chance of making the paying places again this week. | |||
Geoff Ogilvy | 2pt each way 50-1 | Coral |
Finishing position: T27 Back Geoff Ogilvy Again |
We can’t resist a small punt on Geoff at this price. Simply, he must have a chance in such a small field on a course where he is a twice winner. He knows how to win and will see this as a great chance to get his season off to a flying start. 50-1 is too big to ignore this week. |
All quoted odds correct as of 15:00 on 05/01/2015. These are obviously subject to fluctuation.
