The PGA Tour has a stop in Mexico this week at the El Camaleon GC near Cancun. The course is a sub-7000 yard par 71 which can provide a stern test, especially if the wind is blowing – as it frequently does. Full Fedex Cup points are again on offer this week, although the field is far from stellar. John Huh won last year’s event for his first Tour victory. The list of previous winners certainly seems to suggest the shorter hitters will have a comparative advantage this week.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Kevin Stadler | 2pt each way 50-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: WD Back Kevin Stadler Again |
Kevin Stadler made his breakthrough at the Phoenix Open at the start of the year and it’s possible another win might be in there. He’s got a good record at Mayakoba and was our tip last year. He finished T10 in 2013 but that should have been much better. We’re happy to have another nibble at the ‘Smallrus’ this week. | |||
Tony Finau | 2pt each way 66-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T7 Back Tony Finau Again |
Tony is having a super start to his PGA Tour career and currently sits 17th in the Fedex Cup with three top 14 finishes. He’s certainly a guy who could win on tour and there are not many playing better golf at the moment. We’re happy to gobble up the early 66-1 on offer. | |||
Chris Stroud | 2pt each way 33-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T23 Back Chris Stroud Again |
Chris is yet another non-winner who’s banging on the door. He had a near miss at River Highlands in 2013, losing in a play-off. What really catches the eye is a T5, a 4th and a T3 in his last three starts in Mexico. He’s really going to fancy it this week and he can see him being strongly backed to break his duck. |
