This week’s PGA Tour stop is the CIMB Classic which takes place at the Kuala Lumpur G&CC in Malaysia. The course is a relatively short 6951 yard par 72 which should offer up a fair few birdies. The field is restricted to 78 players. This is the second staging of this event at this venue, the first being 2013. Ryan Moore won last year, beating Gary Woodland in a play off.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Brendon De Jong | 2pt each way 40-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T13 Back Brendon De Jong Again |
We had Brendon picked for this event in 2013. He was off the pace then but has played well in Malaysia before – posting T4 in 2012. What catches the eye is a T2 last week at the McGladrey Classic where his putting really caught fire. If he can recover from the disappointment of the play off defeat, he could go well again if the putter is anything like warm. | |||
K J Choi | 2pt each way 90-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: T71 Back K J Choi Again |
K.J. has shown signs of getting back to his best in 2014 and is always a danger the nearer he gets to his homeland. He’s managed a T4 is an Asian tour event in his only recent start and he was T14 here last year. In what is a pretty thin field, Choi could be a factor this week. | |||
Chris Stroud | 2pt each way 66-1 | PaddyPower |
Finishing position: T39 Back Chris Stroud Again |
Chris has provided our followers with a few place wins over the years. He’s definitely in the ‘winner about to happen category’ and the short nature of the course this week plays into his hands. He’s not played much recently but will relish a return to Kuala Lumpur where he posted a very eye catching T3 last year. |
