The PGA Tour returns to the US this week for the McGladrey Classic. The event is again hosted at Sea Island, Georgia. The course is a 7000 yard par 70 seaside links. Wind can be a factor and the shorter hitters and par 70 specialists have a definite chance. Sea Island resident Chris Kirk won last year. The field is fairly weak and most of the big names are staying away.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |

Charles Howell III | 2pt each way 50-1 | SkyBet |
Finishing position: T72 Back Charles Howell III Again |
We’re happy to have another nibble at Charles this week. He improved as the week went on at the Shriners and we can see that momentum carrying on this week. His McGladrey record is 6-32-7-27 so maybe he’s due another high finish. We’re happy to have a small each way stake to find out.
Tony Finau | 2pt each way 50-1 | Bet365 |
Finishing position: T14 Back Tony Finau Again |
Tony has made a big impression already in his rookie season. He’s posted T12 and T7 in this season’s first two events. The big hitting (338 yd average at the Shriners) Utah native could reduce Sea Island to a pitch and putt, especially as there’s a fair bit of room off the tee. We’re happy to bank on his good play continuing and a place finish (or better) is a distinct possibility.
Colt Knost | 2pt each way 100-1 | BetVictor |
Finishing position: MC Back Colt Knost Again |
Big Colt is on a bit of a roll after a successful Web.com play-offs. He’s carried that momentum forward and has T26 and T18 to show for his two outings this season. He traditionally features most on shorter par 70 tracks and will be coming into this one with confidence high. He managed a T26 at Sea Island in 2011 but is playing much better golf now. |
