This week’s event is the last tournament before the Fedex Cup starts and it’s also the last chance for those players outside the top 125 to secure a full card for 2014/15. Sedgefield CC in North Carolina is a Donald Ross design, measuring 7127 yards. The par 70 layout means the shorter hitters are at less of a disadvantage. The fairways are relatively generous but the greens are a bit on the small side. Certainly, the traditional par 70 specialists tend to prosper here. Patrick Reed is the defending champion. It’s worth keeping an eye on those just outside the Fedex Cup top 125 as they’ll have an extra incentive this week.

We put Tim forward for the Canadian Open three weeks ago and he rewarded us with a 66-1 winner. We also recommended him for this event last season. It’s absolutely up his street and the talented South African has had a T2 and T6 at Sedgefield. He didn’t quite do it for us last year when T26 but he’s well able to pop up in the paying places come Sunday.

We’ve been on Carl a couple of times of late, mainly because he’s been playing some decent golf and appears to be back in the groove. No doubt, Sedgefield suits him perfectly. He won in 2008 and has had two T4’s since. We’re happy to recommend him this week on a course that’s going to bring back a lot of happy memories for the burly Swede.

Everybody knows what a great ball striker Charles is and this is certainly a ball striker’s course. His form here is good T13-T4-T31 before being disqualified last year. He’s had his usual consistent season and normally goes best on the shorter venues. He’s in solid cut making form and we can easily see a decent place win out of him this week.
