This week we find ourselves in Akron, Ohio for the WGC Bridgestone, the latest World Golf Championship event. The tournament is held on the South Course at Firestone Country Club and is a par 70 of 7400 yards. The fairways are tree lined and keeping the ball in play is a significant advantage here. The solid ball-strikers tend to prosper. Tiger Woods is the defending champion but looks well out of sorts at the moment.
NOTE: No bookmakers offers this week – presumably due to the restricted field.
Name | Odds | Bookmaker | |
---|---|---|---|
Henrik Stenson | 1.5pt each way 25-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T19 Back Henrik Stenson Again |
Henrik, as we all know, is a World class player and is beginning to find his form. He’s coming right into his favourite time of year and we like the look of his 2nd place last year. The course sets up beautifully for his game and 25-1 is a good price for a player of Stenson’s ability. | |||
Jason Dufner | 2pt each way 55-1 | Stan James |
Finishing position: T66 Back Jason Dufner Again |
Jason Dufner is another guy who loves this time of year. Firestone sets up well for his immaculate tee to green game – hence his T4 last year and T7 in 2012. He’s had a few decent results lately and will be coming into this week with a real feelgood factor. He looks good value at these odds. | |||
Zach Johnson | 2pt each way 50-1 | Ladbrokes |
Finishing position: T23 Back Zach Johnson Again |
Zach is another tee to green merchant this week and we think he offers some real value. He’s got a good Firestone record with T6 and T4 in his last three starts. He’s an all round class act and a 2nd place at the John Deere three weeks ago shows his game isn’t far away from firing on all cylinders again. |
