This year’s edition of the Canadian Open returns to Royal Montreal GC. It’s a 7153 yard par 70 with tree lined fairways and a number of dog-legs. This set up certainly gives the shorter hitters a chance. This venue was last used in 2001 so course form is of limited value. The out of sorts Brandt Snedeker is the defending champion.

We’re going for big Carl again this week after following him a couple of weeks ago. He absolutely excels on tight, fiddly par 70s and 71s. His best recent results of T3 at Southwind and T7 at River Highlands point to a guy who can contend on these types of tests right now. He missed The Open and will be coming into this one fresh.

Call it a punt but Tommy might just come good this week. He’s had a torrid time since his maiden victory but seems to be finding a bit fo form again. He’s stuck way down the Fedex Cup rankings but excels on the shorter tracks. His recent form is decent, making six of his last nine cuts and will be well motivated to finish highly this week.

Tim is a player we always take note of on tight par 70s. Royal Montreal is one of those. All his best results this season (and last) have come on par 70 and 71 courses. His T5 at the John Deere catches the eye with a much improved putting performance. No doubt, Clark will hit more greens than most this week and if he keeps converting he’ll be up there again.
