Arguably the biggest tournament of the year arrives this week with the 143rd Open Championship. Hoylake (or Royal Liverpool GC) is this year’s venue, having last hosted the event in 2006. The course is 52 yards longer than last time as a 7312 yard par 72. Interestingly, two of the last three holes are par 5s. Accuracy from the tee is paramount this week. Tiger Woods won in 2006 but the course is in a more lust condition this time around. Phil Mickelson is the defending champion.

We believe the world No. 5 offers real value this week. The only thing missing from Kuchar’s CV is a major win and it could occur this week. No doubt, he’s a proven winner and world class player who currently sits third in the Fedex Cup. Factor in decent Open form in the recent past (26th, 9th and 15th in his last four efforts) and we feel he’s got a great chance of contending come Sunday afternoon at a very good price.
Thomas Bjorn	2pt each way 66-1	Stan James TOP SIX	Finishing position: T26 Back Thomas Bjorn Again
We’re going for a small each way nibble on the current European No.1 this week. Obviously, Thomas has had some excellent results this season and current form is good. He’s renowned as a great shot maker and has a good Open record – he should have won at least one. He even fits into the recent winners stat of being past 40 so have a small punt on Bjorn and we might all be celebrating come Sunday.

Hunter has had a slow 2014 up to now but has still managed four top 10s. He’s got exactly the kind of straight hitting game that excels at Open venues. In fact he was only a whisker away from rewarding our followers with a place win last year. He’s managed two top 10s in his last seven Open starts and was even T26 at Hoylake last year. We’re happy to have a small each way nibble at big odds.
Stephen Gallacher	1.5pt each way 70-1	Bet365 TOP SEVEN	Finishing position: T15 Back Stephen Gallacher Again
Finally, we’re having another go at fast improving Stephen Gallacher after rewarding us with a 50-1 place winner at the Scottish Open. No doubt he’s a talented links player and a guy who is really coming on strong, sitting 6th in the Money List. He’s even managed two top 25s in the last three years at The Open when operating at nowhere near his current level. Gallacher is well capable of breaking into the top seven here.
